Hull scan to design bespoke flow-aligned rudders for optimum performance

Earlier this week we carried out a 3D scan of the hull of a Horizon 105 in North Carolina. Working together with our partners at Wildcat Propellers, we gathered the data in a process that takes only a few hours. Our experienced engineering team in Southampton, UK, are now running CFD on the hull scan to design bespoke flow-aligned rudders for optimum performance.

Our experienced team uses our in-house software to analyse the data and create thousands of design iterations to identify the optimum design.

We also use 3D scanning  to make replacing a damaged prop significantly easier, quicker and more cost effective. The portable nature of our handheld 3D scanners means we can travel to your vessel, anywhere in the world, and accurately scan an undamaged prop – before reverse engineering the mirror image of the propeller in just two weeks.
