Engineering team expands

CJR Propulsion has expanded its engineering team as the order book continues to grow and as the company focuses on developing new innovations to support customers to achieve optimum efficiency from their sterngear.

Calum McPherson BEng has joined the team as Design Engineer. Calum holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Portsmouth. After graduation, he followed his interest in the marine engineering sector by taking a role at a sailing equipment manufacturer. A move to a role the aerospace sector further honed his mechanical design technical skills, which he is now  utilising back in his primary area of interest: marine engineering.

Mechanical Design Engineer Andrew Schrooten, BSc, began his career in the marine industry as a yacht technician while pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Over the course of seven years, he developed a strong foundation in technical systems and hands-on problem-solving across a wide range of yacht platforms. After relocating from the USA to the United Kingdom, he transitioned into a role as a marine engineer, focusing on the construction of superyacht tenders. This experience further deepened his understanding of complex marine systems and high-performance vessel requirements.

Darius Jesaniel Bharmal, MSc BEng (Hons) has joined CJR Propulsion as Graduate Propeller Design Engineer, following his graduation from Solent University with a distinction in Superyacht Design (MSc) alongside his BEng in Yacht and Powercraft Design. Darius brings a focus on developing and researching new propeller series, boosting efficiency and speed, and reducing fuel consumption for various craft. One of his first tasks after joining CJR was to design Class S propellers for the ultra-efficient Solent TriFoiler. This was a role he was perfectly placed for as he was one of the Solent University students originally involved in the vessel’s development and design. Darius, who grew up in Trinidad and Tobago in the West Indies, also brings additional valuable experience in the marine industry from a placement as a Junior Naval Architect Intern at Incat Crowther Europe in 2024.
