Sweet sixteen

CJR has enjoyed a successful relationship with Sunseeker for over 16 years. Today, that relationship is stronger than ever.

CJR has a large number of Sunseeker projects either in the works or recently completed – including the second iteration of Sunseeker’s flagship 155 Yacht and a new exclusive agreement to supply stainless steel deck and handrails for all new superyachts.

The second 155 Yacht (Hull #2) is the latest Sunseeker/CJR project poised to leave the yard and, from the outside at least, she will closely resemble the first 155 Yacht, which was delivered to Eddie Jordan in 2014 and is currently named Bliss. The yacht featured a complete set of CJR sterngear, as well as a nightclub and jetski garage, and was commended for its quiet ride and high propulsion efficiency – both key deliverables for the project.

For Hull #2, named Princess AVK, the collaboration between Sunseeker and CJR has been even greater. CJR supplied lightweight fabricated rudders and A-brackets fully CFD- optimised and manufactured out of the highest quality stainless steel by CJR Fabrication. The vessel’s bow thruster propellers and huge prop shafts were also manufactured by CJR Propulsion and represent some of the largest shafts the company has ever produced.

Princess AVK is undoubtedly destined to be the height of luxury, accommodating up to 12 guests across six cabins, with room for ten crew and a separate captain’s cabin adjacent to the bridge. She also takes full advantage of Sunseeker’s approach to customisation, with the owners able to directly influence not only the interior design and layout, but also the superstructure of the yacht itself. The new yacht will be powered by impressive twin 16V 4000 series MTU M93 engines and deliver a top speed of up to 24 knots – a noticeable increase in power compared to Bliss.

“If you are buying a Sunseeker, you quite rightly expect that everything from the kitchen appliances to the propellers will be of the highest quality. Sunseeker expect the very best from their suppliers and we are very happy to play our small role in making that happen. Our new agreement on deck and handrails is a demonstration of our commitment to excellence and Sunseeker’s belief in our capabilities. Since we created CJR Fabrication in 2014, we have invested heavily in the business’ infrastructure, manufacturing hardware and the team, so it’s great to see all that hard work being recognised by one of the most respected yards in the world. We are delighted,” commented Mark Russell, CJR Managing Director.
