CJR Propulsion launches new custom designed M-R-K Superprop propellers at METS (Stand 03.100)

M-R-K Superprop

CJR Propulsion Ltd, a leading European manufacturer and designer of propellers and sterngear systems will be launching custom M-R-K Superprop propellers at this year’s METS show.

The new M-R-K Superprop is a custom designed propeller option, created to provide the ultimate in performance at sea. These propellers are individually tailored to a particular vessel’s specification. The unique profiles are then optimised to deliver maximum speed, responsiveness and efficiency.

The propulsion system is a crucial element of a vessel’s overall performance, but frequently the importance of the propeller itself can be overlooked. Boat builders and designers are constantly searching for new ways to improve performance and efficiency. As a result, increased emphasis is being placed on advanced propeller design, meaning that standard or off the shelf designs may no longer provide an acceptable solution.

A highly advanced and unique software programme has been developed exclusively for CJR to aid the development of the new propellers. Using lifting surface theory, integrated with computational fluid dynamics, CJR has been able to test the new propeller designs and predict a vessel’s performance in realistic conditions with an extremely high degree of accuracy.

A number of the M-R-K Superprop designs have now been installed and trialled with outstanding results. In each individual test, the performance of the vessel fitted with the M-R-K Superprop has been dramatically transformed by achieving higher top speeds, greater responsiveness and a smoother and quieter operation. In addition, the vessel’s fuel efficiency and range has significantly increased. The most impressive aspect of these trials has been the accurate correlation between CJR’s predicted data and the actual test data.

The development of the M-R-K Superprop range forms part of an ongoing investment programme at CJR. The company has already invested millions of pounds into a purpose designed Engineering Centre, a specialised CAD/CAM Design Centre, new machinery and investment in new staff.
